Residential sprinklers aren't just a lite NFPA 13. NFPA 13D covers one/two-family homes; NFPA 13R covers residential up to 4 stories — two entirely separate standards. 2. Exceptions skipped: 13D/R permits bathroom/balcony exemptions; engineer covers everything and inflates cost.
3. Undersized home tank: 13D needs 10 min × 50 gpm = 500 gal min; 200 gal tank can't support.
