MEP Calc contains more than 86 engineering calculation modules, organised into 8 main categories: Heating (18 modules), Cooling (10), Ventilation/HVAC (8), Plumbing (8), Fire Protection (21), Compressed Air (4), Steam Systems (5) and Natural Gas (6). It also includes six types of unit converter.
MEP Calc uses DIN 2440 tables for heating and cooling pipe sizing — four separate tables, 18 friction resistance rows and 14 pipe diameter options for professional sizing. The Hazen-Williams and Darcy-Weisbach methods are supported in the fluid dynamics calculations.
Ventilation ductwork is sized with the Colebrook-White equation. This iterative equation calculates the friction factor and pressure loss precisely. You can compare circular and rectangular ducts and calculate equivalent diameter and area.
Yes — the fire protection category has 21 modules. It covers sprinkler calculations (NFPA 13, FM Global, BS EN 12845), FM200 (HFC-227ea) gaseous suppression, foam suppression (NFPA 11), NPSH, pump equipment, pump room ventilation, engine cooling circuits, diesel fuel tanks and more.
Yes. MEP Calc supports both SI (metric) and Imperial (IP) unit systems, and the unit system can be changed in every module. The formulas have separate calculation functions for SI and IP, so there is no intermediate conversion error. It also includes six independent unit converters: pressure, flow, length, temperature, power and energy.
MEP Calc is a free download from the App Store, and the core calculation modules are free to use. A Pro subscription is available for the fire protection calculations and advanced modules, with monthly and annual plans. It runs on iOS 17 and later.
Yes. A professional PDF report can be generated for every calculation module, in English or Turkish. The report sets out all input values, calculation parameters and results in detail, and can be shared by messaging, email or as a file.
